In addition to subject-specific scientific, pedagogical and subject-specific didactic skills, a scientific teacher training program must also promote the development of competencies that enable the formation of well-founded opinions on issues related to education with social and practical relevance. This essentially includes being able to follow the scientific discourse on teaching and learning and to understand and classify scientific results and reflect on their practical implications. In the newly published article, Axinja Hachfeld and Christian Wendelborn give an insight into the conceptual design of the interdisciplinary course "Critical Thinking in Educational Science", which aims at teaching the basics and prerequisites for critical reflections on discourses in educational science.
